Star Wars The Phantom Menace is about to be released this week in the wonder which is 3D in the hope that it will get yet another generation of kids interested in the never ending space franchise. You can probably remember Star Wars Phantom Menace when it was first released and how everyone had such high hopes for the Star Wars prequels. Unfortunately those high hopes were soon destroyed and all that remained was a weird looking squid thing by the name Jar Jar Binks. Here we take a look at the forgotten actors from the Phantom Menace and what they look like now and where they are now.
Ahmed Best – Jar Jar Binks
Yes, we know his character ruined Star Wars for the everyone but this was his big break. Most of the work that he has done since featured mainly Star Wars spin off work such as carious video game voice overs. He has also had minor parts in Cougar Town and Law and Order.
Jake Lloyd – Anakin Skywalker
Featured as a voice over for several Star Wars video games which was always going to happen but then faded away and out of the limelight then quit the Hollywood at the age of just 12. According to some rumours Lloyd is now studying something to do with film at college and is set to try his hand at Hollywood once again only this time from the other side of the camera.
Ian McDiarmid – Senator Palpatine
McDiarmid is one of the few actors to actually show up in the original Star Wars movies and the prequels. Between the Star Wars movies McDiarmid has kept himself busy in movies such as Sleepy Hollow. He is a classically trained actor who prefers theatre work. He has also directed several plays.
Frank Oz – Yoda
This guy is one of the greatest voice artists ever. Before he was Yoda he was Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and Animal in ‘The Muppet Show’. He also directed Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando in ‘The Score’ and Nicole Kidman in ‘The Stepford Wives’.
Ray Park – Darth Maul’s body
Ray Park was originally a stuntman who decided to turn his hand to acting. He originally started out in the Mortal Combat movie. He followed up ‘Menace’ by playing Toad in the first ‘X-Men’ movie and Snake Eyes in ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra’ – a role he’ll reprise in the sequel. He also showed up in ‘Heroes’.
