It seems only five minutes has went by since Google last changed its search algorithm and they are about to tweak it even further. This time plans to punish those sites which are considered to advert heavy while websites with high quality content will be rewarded.
The latest news on Google’s next algorithm change was revealed in a blog post by Google engineer, Matt Cutts. It appears that Google want websites that can get a happy balance between top quality content and ads that are featured alongside that content.
Google has already come under heavy fire from various people since the news of the planned algorithm changes. Many people say that Google are being unfair with their algorithm changes especially since they still feature heavy ad presence in their own search results. The video below will show exactly why people are complaining and a simple search for DVD’s will produce a sidebar with lists of stores, supported personalised ads and shopping results. All of this deflects the user’s attention from the real content results which may be of more interest to the searcher.
Matt Cutts has claimed that the pending change to Google’s search algorithm will affect less than 1% of worldwide search results or less than 1 in 100.
Google has suggested that if you are concerned your site may be badly affected by the changes then you may wish to use the Browser Size tool.
